“I Would Never Touch a Gun” Gun Safety Class

First and foremost, we understand that shooting sports might be a hobby that’s not for everyone. While we would love for others to share our passion for the sport, we respect that people can choose whether or not to practice their second amendment rights. However, just because some people out there will choose not to participate in shooting a firearm does not mean they will never come in contact with one. This is why we’ve decided to create an opportunity for everyone, gun enthusiasts or not, to properly learn what everyone needs to know about firearms.

Shooting will NOT be part of this class. We’ll focus on teaching the participants about the very basic structure of firearms—how they work, how to safely load one and unload one, how to tell if a gun is loaded, and other helpful safety instructions that the average citizen might not know about firearms. It’s a discussion-only class, and therefore we are offering it for only $20/person.

Why are we doing this? We know that tragedies involving guns do happen. They’ve previously occurred in workplaces, churches, schools, nightclubs, movie theaters, etc. Of course, we all want to believe that these tragedies would never happen in our communities or with our loved ones, but this is a prime example of why it’s better to be safe than sorry. Even if you don’t personally own a gun, it’s possible that the occasion will arise where you’ll need to know how to handle one safely. Simple education and awareness of the topic could make the difference in a life or death situation, and Blackhawk feels strongly about providing citizens with that education.

We appreciate your support of this class. It is our hope that this newsletter has provided valuable information about our point of view on this topic. If you think someone you know could benefit from this class, such as a teacher, someone in charge of a large group of people, or just someone who doesn’t have a lot of knowledge about firearms, please share this with them. We’d love to make them feel comfortable enough to visit our range, even if they never want to shoot a gun. This is about protecting our loved ones and spreading awareness about guns.

Feel free to contact us here at the range—or have those interested in the class contact us—to learn more about this class we’re hosting.
