Blackhawk Shooting Sports

This is a high-level overview of everything you need to know to start shooting your handgun and to be a responsible handgun owner. This course is also a great refresher for anyone who hasn’t fired a handgun in a few years to experienced shooters.

This 2-hour class is broken down into a 1-hour in-classroom safety and instruction and a 1-hour “on-the-range” drills and skill builder to practice and reinforce the material from the classroom portion. The course includes but is not limited to, firearm safety practices, covering the basics of shooting, muzzle discipline, trigger control, and the importance of stance and grip.

Required Gear: Pistol or Revolver, 50-100 rounds of ammunition.
**STEEL CORE, STEEL-CASED, OR ALUMINUM-CASED AMMUNITION WILL NOT BE PERMITTED ON THE RANGE**

Required Shooting Skills: None

Cost: $49 for the class. Handguns are available for rental for $10. Additional ammunition can be purchased in-store.

Instructed by the Captain of Fox Point Police Department, Doug Dubnicka.

The class follows the Department of Justice curriculum. A pamphlet will be given for you to take notes. Please bring a pistol if you have one, but no ammunition. There will be no range time involved. A certificate will be given to each to send to the State to apply for your license.

In this hands-on course, you will learn the mechanical basics, ideal equipment, proper storage and take down, and basic cleaning & maintenance of your firearm. **You will not leave your weapon spotless, but you’ll leave with the knowledge and training to be able to take down, clean, and troubleshoot any functional problems.
